It was glitz and glamour as Rev Fr Andrew Obinyan recently marks his birthday in Benin City.
The 55th birthday of the padre was an indication that the love for him is massive.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr Idris Kazeem said, "Fr Obinyan does not have any basis to steal because he has proven himself beyond that. He will not steal and hide the loot in overhead tanks nor will he hide the loot in foreign banks.
"He will not disrespect the traditional stools. He won't drag the cultural artefacts with the Oba of Benin.
"Students will rejoice because he's a lover of education. The educational system in Edo State will meet with international standards", he stressed.
On her part, Mrs Ehi Osawaru told the audience that Fr Obinyan has proven himself beyond doubt.
"He transforms infrastructures, develops human capacity, respects the people and he is accountable.
"Let's not miss this chance of getting a brother and friend this time", she said.
In another development, Omo Osifo Esq led the youths present at the ceremony to strongly appeal to the cleric not to relent in his oars towards vying for the Edo State governorship seat in 2024.
In an interview with the cleric, Fr Obinyan said, "I am overwhelmed with this show of love which the people have shown to me.
"This is a very big surprise. Though, I am not too surprised because I have come to live in this community and I have loved them with all sincerity.
"I thank God for keeping me and everyone here today to witness my birthday", he said.
Highlights of the birthday ceremony were dance competition, minerals drinking competition and chairs fez merry.
Prayers were offered for the celebrator by everyone in attendance as they wished him success in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State come 2024.
