The Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCN, Ministry of Physical Planning Unit, Edo State, Comrade Lucky Afenokhai has recently added his voice to jubilant civil servants in the state over the minimum wage of 70,000 naira, as announced by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

In an exclusive chat with LEGENDS TV, Comrade Afenokhai said, "the governor has done well. If you look around the federation, you will agree with me that the government has done well.

"Even before now, he was  the first to increase workers salaries. Even if it is a dime added to workers salaries, it will boost the working morals of civil servants and it will add value to their families.

"With this increment, he has done well because such developmental stride is worth appreciating him for and we must think well and thank him.

"During the May Day, if you can recall, he said it clearly and it is subject to the federal government that if the federal government decides to increase the minimum wage up to 70,000 naira, he will also do more provided the federal government is releasing allocation for that purpose and I think he is being fair enough to have said so because he cannot promise what he cannot offer", he said.

On employment rate, Comrade Afenokhai said, "the government has done well. If you can follow the edojobs, you will see that the 200,000 jobs promised during his campaign have been met and even more.

"The employment is not only focused on graduates. Non graduates are being employed and the results are there. The governor is not making any noise with his achievements because he is the wake and see. Politics aside, the governor is performing well.

"He has done what he needed to do in terms of employment and now the minimum wage has been increased by 75 percent. Every right thinking person must appreciate him on these.

"There's a better mutual understanding between the workers and the governor. The governor said so during the May Day that there was no strike in Edo State caused by the Edo State government. The strikes we saw were all as a result of the Federal Government and Edo State will have to join. He said he really enjoyed working with workers in the state", he stressed.

Comrade Afenokhai used the privilege to salute all workers in the state and also the union leaders for their firm support for the Governor Obaseki-led administration so far.
