Egor Legislative Arm Reaffirms Eghe Ogbemudia's Removal

The removal from the Egor Local Government Office met on Hon Eghe Ogbemudia has been recently reaffirmed by the Egor Legislative Arm under the watch of Hon Amb (Dr) Lion Prince Godwin Uwadia Edigin.


Briefing journalist in Benin City, Hon Edigin said, "We issue a Clarion call to Egor Local Government and Edo State to critically examine the impeachment reaffirmed on Hon Eghe Ogbemudia, Chairman of Egor Local Government Area. This development comes after allegations of gross misconduct, financial misappropriation, and budget padding".


Reading from a press statement, Hon Edigin said, "it's essential to note that Hon Eghe Omosigho, Member of the Edo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, lacks power to choose or approve the leadership of the Egor Legislative Arm. His Press statement in this regard is null and void.


"We urge the relevant authorities to take a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the impeachment and ensure that the rule of law is upheld. The people of Egor deserve transparency, accountability, and good governance", he added.


The statement reiterated the key demands are thorough investigation of the allegations against Hon Eghe Ogbemudia, respect for the autonomy of Egor Legislative Arm and transparency and accountability in governance of Egor Local Government Area.


The statement had it that Hon Bose Omokaro Cynthia who has been said to have been impeached since June 25th, lacks authority to convene any Legislative session henceforth.


The suspended honourable councillors from wards 2, 3, 5, and 8 have been declared null and void.


Hon Edigin used the opportunity to "appreciate PDP stakeholders in the state, the party chairman of the state caretaker Committee, leaders of the party, State, senatorial and the Egor Local Government Area".


Other members of the Egor Legislative Arm who appended their signatures were Hon Preston Eghe Amayo the Deputy Leader representing ward 5, Hon Ighodaro kelvin Eguaken the Majority Leader representing ward 8, Hon Amasinmwin Odion the Chief Whip representing Ward 4, Rt Hon Stella Ogida the Financial Secretary of the National Councillors Forum and Hon Nosakhare Izebuwa representing ward 10.
