Edo2024: Fr Obinyan Declares Intention, Says Edo Deserves Best of Governance

By Kadiri Christopher As the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki starts preparing to leave office soon, Rev Fr Andrew Obinyan has formally declared his intention to succeed the outgoing governor. In a recent meeting with the Catholic Knights, the padre declared that "a new dawn is coming to Edo people. A new breed that will make Edo people know that politics is not to get rich but to serve. "I have nothing to gain when I become the Governor because after my successful administration, I will return back to my priestly life. So, I'll not do anything to destroy nor smear the name of the church or the faith of the people. "I formally declared to you today that I am vying as an aspirant for the governorship seat in Edo State, come 2024 and I need all of your support in prayers, publicity, name it", he said. Responding to the declaration, Sir Frank Okosi said, "this is not time for prayers alone. It's time for a new movement that will bring hope for our generation, children and children yet unborn. "Let the regular politicians go to rest because they have done enough damage. They successfully did these damages because good men sat down without doing anything. "With this declaration of interest today, Fr Obinyan has decided to say it's time to correct all the wrongs", he said. The leader of the group, Sir Jude Agbona said, "we really did not believe it when we heard from rumour that you are in the race. Now that you have called us to declare your intent, we now believe. "We will support you by standing up to campaign for you in our environments, in our work places, in our families, in the neighborhood and everywhere we go," he stressed. The group used the means to pray for peace and success for Fr Obinyan.
