Edo Assembly Boss Insists On Media Objectivity

The speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, EDHA, Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku has recently encouraged journalists within and outside the state to be fair, objective and balanced in their reportage.


Receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, led by the Chairperson of the Edo State chapter, Comrade Adesuwa Ehimuan on a courtesy call, the EDHA boss commended the the Edo NAWOJ for acknowledging the role of the EDHA.


The Edo Assembly speaker strongly appealed to the Women Journalists to encourage young girls and help them actualize their dreams and aspirations in their diverse endeavors.

Rt Hon Agbebaku reiterated his unwavering support for the Edo NAWOJ ahead of the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION in collaboration with other professional women groups in Edo State, which is scheduled to hold on 28th day of March at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Services Academy, JOOPSA.


Speaking earlier, the Edo NAWOJ boss salutes the EDHA for summoning the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, over difficulties in getting the National Identification Number, NIN.


She expressed optimism on the over 30 people-oriented resolutions to its credit. Such resolutions include tackling Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, over the poor state of federal roads in Edo State.


She recalled that the house has passed several bills including the 2024 Budget, Fisheries Bill, Autonomy of Legislatures and Judiciary, among others.

Comrade Ehimuan applauded all the committees of the house which she described as active and functional. She spotted the activeness of the House Committee on Works and Public Utilities which is being chaired by Hon Bright Iyamu, a member representing Orhionmwon South Constituency.


Joining the EDHA speaker to receive the delegation were Hon Maria Edeko who is the Deputy Speaker and Natasha Osawaru representing Egor Constituency.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a customized giant picture frame to the EDHA speaker.
