MSDGI ADVOCATES GENDER FRIENDLINESS

By Kadiri Christopher The Edo State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, MSDGI has commenced a 16 day of activism, calling on everyone in Edo State to shun gender based violence. Commencing the activism rally recently at the Edo State Civil Service Secretariat in Benin City, the MSDGI Commissioner, Mrs Christabel Omoh Ekwu said, "We are kick-starting our 16days of activism and we are using the means to advocate for a more gender friendly society.
"Violence against women and girls must stop in Edo State. Domestic violence is an office and theres a law prohibiting violence against persons in Edo State.
"Children, women and every other vulnerables are by this law protected from every form of violence", she said. The 16 days of activism was earlier announced by the commissioner weeks before it commencement. The rally which commenced from the Edo Civil Service Secretariat saw staffs of the MSDGI trooped out in their numbers in a street walk, visiting major areas in Benin City, calling on the good people of edo state to avoid gender based violence which is not permitted in Edo State and Nigeria at large.
