The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande, on Monday, handed over a 5-room toilet facility, with functional water system to Okha Market women.
Okha market, located along Sapele Road in Ward 9, is one of the major markets in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
Osayande said it was in fulfilment of his electioneering promise to the market women, who during his campaigns, requested a toilet is built in the market.
The Council Chairman, represented by the Councillor, Ward 9, Hon. Yvonne Obazee, said, "today, I am here to handover this facility to you, being my commitment to the promise made during campaigns, I believe that the facility meets your expectations and I hope you use it judiciously for the good of this market."
Speaking further, Osayande called for strict maintenance culture to be imbibed to keep the facility clean for use.
"I expect that you will develop a maintenance routine to ensure that the facility is clean always, for use; you must ensure that it meets its purpose and its not subject to vandalization or destruction."
The market women trooped out in their numbers to receive the Councilor and the team; they were full of prayers and praises for the Chairman, pledging their continuous support for the Osayande-led administration.
Chairman's Personal Assistant, Prince Abifade Oriakhi, was also in attendance to join in handing over of the facility.
"We are very happy, this is beautiful, we requested and it has come to pass; Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman is a promise keeper, we are very pleased with his administration and will continue to support him in all his endeavours." Iyeki, alongside the market women chorused in excitement.
Recall that Okha market was one of the first to be captured in the Osayande market money initiative, with fifty (50) women benefiting directly from the scheme.
