The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council has recently sent a condolence message to the family of a late veteran journalist, Sir Jonathan Benaebi Eselemo.
The council described Sir Eselemo as a man whose service years were impactful to younger colleagues of the pen profession.
Comforting the family, the Edo NUJ boss, Comrade Amb Festus Alenkhe JP, FSGI said, "the demise of Eselemo has further depleted the ranks of old Journalists who have sacrificed all it takes to get the media job done.
"Benaebi Eselemo, as he was fondly called during his days as a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority, made his mark and left a worthy legacy in the journalism profession.
"He was a foremost reporter in Benin City, Edo State and a role model that inspired the young ones into the journalism profession.
"He remains a great mentor to many journalists today, including myself as the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council ", he said.
He used the opportunity to pray for the repose of his soul and also did God to grant the family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the loss.
Sir Eselemo passed on at the age of 76 and will be laid to rest on Friday 2nd day of February at his home town in Bayelsa State
