Comrade Osazee Edigin has recently resolved that "THE POWERS TO MAKE AND UNMAKE AN ENOGIE BELONGS TO THE OBA".
Comrade Edigin buttressed that "When you fall a tree, the government comes after you because you have broken a law, however when you fall same tree through the power of a Voodoo, the government has nobody to hold.
"I read in the news that, some Enigie took the Oba of Benin to court stating that he doesn't have the legal power to suspend them. I do not know who their advisers are or what understanding have they in taking the legal route they took.
"Fundamentally, the power to appoint an Enogie solely resides with the Oba of Benin who thereafter recommends same to the government for recognition.
"An Enogie is likened to an ambassador to the Oba sent to a community/village as the administrative head and representative of the Oba. He serves as the intermediary between the community and the Oba. He is the appointee of the Oba.
"It's whoever the Oba confirms Enogie, the government can recognize. Government cannot appoint an Enogie to oversee a community.
"I wouldn't want to speak on the matter in court as it borders on whether the Oba has the power to suspend an Enogie or not, but I will make attempt to establish how the power of the Oba to make and unmake an Enogie irrespective of what any law says.
"Now let's look at it from these angles of deeper thought. Even if we are to concede that the Oba had no such power to suspend an Enogie, we should also note that he sure has the powers to decides not to recognize an Enogie, withdraws his glory and privileges that envelopes them, decides to terminate the continuity of any enogie's stool by primogeniture, stops further appointment of Enigie to communities/villages, relies only on Odionweres and chiefs in the administration of the kingdom.
"The strength and powers exhibited by any Enogie are derives from the Oba. There won't be an Enogie without the appointment by the Oba.
"I just hope no Enogie would like it when his heir is not appointed as Enogie after he might have joined his ancestors.
"The Oba position is not a political one. He doesn't require nomination, appointment or vote to ascend the throne. He remains the Oba of Benin even if all the Enigie decide to rebel against him.
"Remember, he has the knife and the yam to yank off any lineage of Enogie to continue. There is a thin line between Benin tradition and the law. The tradition must come first and last. The law is just in the middle. The man that controls the first and the last is the Oba of Benin. The beginning of an Enogie position starts with the Oba and the termination of same ends with him too", he said.
Comrade Edigin admonished All to be "All be wise"
He accepted that, "This thought is strictly mine".
