A youth advancement advocacy group, Securing The Creative Goldmine Youth Initiative, SCGYI, has taken advocacy and sensitization to inmates in Benin City.
The sensitization tour to Benin Correctional Center and Okoh Correctional Center was as part of the agenda of the SCGYI for the year 2023.

In an address by Deputy Comptroller of Correction in charge of the Benin Correctional Center, DCC Okwosha Okwosha, "youths should stop whatever that will restrict their freedom. They should embrace peace and love for one another in order to avoid being remanded.
"As for you who have taken to heart to come and celebrate with our inmates, we so much appreciate you and we want others to follow your footsteps", he said.
On his part, the Comptroller of the Okoh facility, DCC Olusegun Cornelius Osogun said, "we are glad that there are still people who have our inmates at heart. You people have left your families and other duties of the day to come and sensitize and celebrate with the inmates. May God continue to bless you all".
Earlier, the Executive Director of the SCGYI, Comrade Edwin Asibor informed the inmates that the group has always been coming to see them and as well try possible beans of getting freedom for those who are on bail but couldn't afford it.
He said the group has come to celebrate with the inmates because incarceration doesn't make them any less than a human being.
Some inmates whose lawyers have abandoned and who have been granted bail which has not been perfected were listed for further processing through legal means.
Highlights of the celebration were competitions in songs, jokes and dance by inmates as winners were given prizes
