Nigeria Police has been been accused by a civil society group for abandoning the families of over 20 policemen and officers killed in Delta State recently.
The civil society group under the aegis of TALAKAWAS PARLIAMENT protested the suspicious abandonment to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Center recently with a large number of sympathisers, calling on the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr Kayode Egbetokun to either listen to the families or do the needful or resign his position as an IGP.
Addressing the NUJ at the Press Center, Marxist Kola Edokpayi said, "the families of the slain policemen in Delta State are suffering.
"We thought the Federal Government will ascertain same authority to ensure the culprits are brought to book immediately.

"We don't protest police anomalies only. We also protest against civilian abnormalities and Police shady deals too.
"We are calling on the IGP to stand up and get the killers of same police to book or resign his position. We can't accept the unrecognized attack and killings of our promising police men and officers to lie low like that", he roared.
Responding, the chairman of the Edo NUJ, Comrade Amb Festus Alenkhe, JP, FSGI, advised the group to continue with the oar, but must ensure the protest is carried out in peaceful manners in order to shun any external invasion.
