Nigeria's frontline Online Security Tracking Platform, Security Situation Room, SSR, has donated some chairs to the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police to eradicate suspects from sitting on the bare floor when being showcased to the Media and the public.
At a brief session with the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the Convener of the Security Situation Room, Douglas Ogbankwa Esq indicated that the donation was to support the Matra of Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Funsho Adegboye which is Democratic Policing with the fear of God. Douglas Ogbankwa Esq and the Edo State Police PRO both agreed that suspects have rights and should be properly treated even during investigations.
In an Interview after the donation, the Convener of the Security Situation Room, Douglas Ogbankwa Esq, stated that "every suspect is still a citizen and as such should be treated properly . This is part of our advocacy in ensuring that human rights of alleged suspects are protected. We are calling on our friends in the Police to please do Well to allow suspects to be fully dressed when ever they are being brought out of the cell or showcased to the media."
On his part, the Edo Police Command PPRO, SP Nwanbuzor appreciated the kind gesture from the SSR and used the means to appeal to kind-hearted individuals and organizations to see how the Police can be assisted in different ways
