International Women's Day: NUJ Boss Calls For 50% Affirmative

The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Amb Festus Alenkhe JP, FSGI, has called on government at all levels in Nigeria to increase the percentage of women in politics to 50 percent.


Speaking  recently in Benin City during the International Women's Day Celebration organized by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Comrade Alenkhe said, "women are of great potentials for national development and capacity building.

"I am using this opportunity to appeal to the government at all levels to increase women participation in politics from 35 percent to 50 percent.


"Women should be given opportunities to speak in national discourse as well.

"There's nothing wrong with having a woman as our president. We can start by having a woman Vice President. 


"So, I support 50 percent affirmative for women", he said.
