The coalition of Edo riverine communities has recently congratulated His Excellency, Omobayo Marvelous Godwins on his appointment as the Deputy Governor of Edo State in a resounding celebration of youth empowerment and progress.

In a solemn ceremony presided over by the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, Mr Omobayo was sworn in to replace the impeached Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu. In his inaugural speech, the newly appointed Deputy Governor expressed his unwavering dedication to working diligently alongside Governor Obaseki to ensure a successful ending of the second term.

The Edo Riverine Communities, buoyed by the resounding mantra of 'Youth O'clock' echoing throughout Edo state, view the appointment of the Deputy Governor as a tangible affirmation of the transformative power possessed by the youth.

In a press release issued on Tuesday and signed by Ipikumoh Godfrey Owei, National Coordinator, Hon. Samuel Pune Uroupa, National Secretary, and Comrade Ezekiel Daniel, Spokesman, the group expressed their elation.

"It is a prophecy fulfilled, testifying to the attentiveness of our amiable governor, who has consistently elevated young individuals to esteemed positions, heeding the constructive voices of Edolites," the statement read.

The release further emphasized the importance of dispelling the misconception that today's youths are confined to the roles of "political hallelujah boys," thugs, or electoral mercenaries. The newly appointed Deputy Governor's impressive track record in the oil and gas industry, coupled with his remarkable strides in Edo state politics, exemplify his suitability for the office.

"This appointment not only symbolizes a triumph for youth representation but also underscores the governor's commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive government," the release continued.

On behalf of the Coalition of Edo Riverine Communities, the group extended their unwavering support and solidarity to the newly appointed Deputy Governor, emphasizing their consistent demonstration of solidarity with the youth-friendly governor. They view the Deputy Governor as their foremost representative in government, serving as a rallying point for the massive youth votes that will secure victory for the incoming administration of Asue/Ogie, their formidable party candidates.

The coalition firmly believes that this appointment is not only timely but also strategically pivotal in ensuring their triumph in the forthcoming polls. They entrust the Deputy Governor with their hopes and aspirations, confident that he will diligently work alongside the governor to ensure the continued prosperity of Edo state, setting an exemplary standard for other states to follow.

"With the appointment of Marvelous Omobayo Godwins as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, the youth of the region are witnessing a significant step forward in their pursuit of active participation in governance. The coalition of Edo riverine communities stands united in our support, eagerly anticipating the positive impact that the newly appointed Deputy Governor will bring to the state.
