Commemorating World Health Day for 2025, the Benbow Deck of the National Association of Seadogs, NAS, also known as Pyrates Confraternity has advocated for a healthier society.
The advocacy which was in conjunction with the Ejemen Diagnostics And Ambulatory Clinic in Benin City was a call for easy access to body checks among others.
The 2025 World Health Day which was tagged HEALTHY BEGINNINGS, HOPEFUL FUTURES saw free eye tests, free eye glasses, general consultation, free urinalysis, fasting blood glucose, malaria testing, referrals among others. While 50 percent subsidy was offered for prostrate specific antegen, liver function test, kidney function test, fasting lipids profile among others.
Speaking on behalf of the Deck's President, Ibrahim Oven who was unavoidably absent, the vice president of the Deck, Emmanuel Umoh said there is need for the people to embrace medical gifts such as this advocacy
"There's high need for people to go for routine check of their bodies. Especially their vitals because everyday, we see and hear so-called healthy people collapse", he said.
On his part, the Project Coordinator of the Benbow Deck, Omotayo Fasade opined that medical advocacy is one of the numerous projects of the NAS.
According to him, "the National Association of Seadogs is position to serve humanity and this project is one of our advocacy programs to ensure good and affordable health for all.
"We are using this privilege to advise adults to watch their body systems, check their vitals and as well follow every medical instruction", he admonished.
He used the privilege to appreciate the collaboration done by the Ejemen Diagnostics And Ambulatory Clinic
Speaking on behalf of the Medical Coordinator, Letan Kinane urged Nigerians to embrace such medical Mission which is to foster a healthier society
"There is a high need for people to take advantage of projects like this because the economy in Nigeria today is somehow not friendly," he said.
The beneficiaries appreciated the kind gesture done by both the Pyrates Confraternity from Benbow Deck and the Ejemen Diagnostics And Ambulatory Clinic.
