The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Sen Monday Okpebholo has awarded fresh contracts for construction and rehabilitation of more roads across the state.

Addressing newsmen in Benin, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr Dr John Obanor said about 20 roads were already awarded as at the month of March, 2026, but more roads have been awarded and the entire number of roads awarded is already 54, amounting to 500 kilometer in totality.

According to Engr Obanor, "I want to inform you that as at the last time we briefed you in the month of March, about 20 roads were already awarded. But as of today, the total number of roads awarded is already 54, which now totals to 500 kilometers.

"The roads awarded across the state is to ensure that the Governor, Sen Monday Okpebholo delivers on his campaign promises.

"The Governor is not one who throws away his policy statement. If he says he wants to do a thing, he does it to quality and standard. The evidence is there.

"The flyovers are there, other roads are there across the state which the Governor is working on massively. 500km is not a small figure at all and he is still willing to do more.

"Edo people need to be patient because the Governor is working gradually and massively across the state. So patience is needed and prayers too to support the Governor", he said
