BENIN CITY — A Special Criminal Court sitting in the Vacation Court, presided over by Hon. Justice A.T. Momodu, has ordered the remand of a security guard, Timothy Mark, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl on multiple occasions.
The matter, with Charge Number B/CD/2128M/2026, involves allegations that the defendant abused the trust reposed in him while employed as a security guard at the victim's family residence, where he had unrestricted access.
According to court documents and allegations before the court, Mark allegedly committed the offense three times while left alone with the minor. In preliminary statements, the defendant reportedly claimed he was intoxicated during the alleged incidents.
At the proceedings on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the defendant was present in court and was subsequently remanded in custody.
The prosecution was led by I.E. Ekibade, Esq., while Douglas Ogbankwa, Esq., held the Nominal Complainant's Brief on behalf of the victim's family.
Hon. Justice Momodu adjourned the suit to September 22, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings.
