The Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Effa Okim, recently said money spree in public places has encouraged youthful strives for money legitimately and illegitimately.

Addressing newsmen recently during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council,  Mr Okim said the offense attached to money spree is more than the cyber fraud itself.

According to him, "money spree is one of the actions that instigate young ones to pursue after money. They want to do everything legitimately and illegitimately to get this money and in most cases, they end up with illegitimate means of making money.

"You see that song, DORIMEH, it has caused a whole lot of havoc. Youths want to be cheered in club houses and parties because of dorimeh. How can a little boy of 15 years old be buying a bottle of champagne at the cost of 50,000 Naira? He was the DJ to play dorimeh for him. A bottle of champagne that is sold outside for 10,000 Naira to 15,000 Naira will be sold in the club for 50,000 Naira and above and you will see a very young boy buying like six bottles for himself and friends.

"The information about Bobrisky is not well disbursed. In the law, there is what is called reinforcement of behaviours.

"Money spree is worse than cyber fraud. Spree of the naira is what inspires our love of money. Let's partner to reduce such an act", he said.
