The youngest local government chairman in Edo State, Hon Enowoghomwenma Edosa has recently bagged the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, merit award.
Hon Edosa who is the chairman of the Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State was acknowledged for the merit award due to what the planning committee described as "rapid development in local government".
In his citation that was presented, Hon Edosa was said to have been appointed as a Senior Special Assistant, SSA, by the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and he (Edosa) emerged the Coordinator General of the League of SSAs and SAs.
Hon Edosa who is said to be a Christian, was the former president of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, CYON, and he led a session of Christians to the Benin Republic during his reign.

Hon Edosa was loudly cheered as a Chelsea FC fan due to his love for football sports. It was immediately added that he is a core fan of the Bendel Insurance FC, Benin.
Responding to the award received in the company of his wife, father, mother and other councillors and organs of the Ovia South-West Local Government Council, Hon Edosa said, "I am dedicating this award to the good people of Ovia South-West. This award is so dare to me because it is coming from a reputable union, that is, the NUJ.
"This award is to commit me to do more and we must support the press in pushing their reports about climate and environment. This was why my team and myself restructured the protection of the Ovia South-West environment.
"We have constructed three dump sites. We focus on waste management in order to make Ovia South-West environmental friendly local government.
"It is pertinent to note that Ovia South-West is paying 13 months salary annually.
"We are disbursing traders money to our market women. The scheme is known as 'Igho eki'.
"Nevertheless, we shall continue to do more and also return to support the NUJ", he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of chairman of the Edo NUJ, Comrade Amb Festus Alenkhe, JP, FSGI, said, "we have ensure that journalists in Edo State balance their stories. We must fact-check stories before publishing or broadcasting.
"2024 Press Freedom Day is a reminder that we are the members of the fourth estate of the realm. Let's play our part and continue to strive towards fairness and objectivity", he said.
The Press Freedom Day is an initiative of the United Nations and it is observed globally in honour of the struggle for press freedom every 3rd day of May.
Other awardees were Engr Prof Emmanuel Aluyor, Vice Chancellor of the Edo State University, Uzairue, Hon Ethan Uzamere, Edo State Commissioner for Roads and Bridges who was represented by Mr Wilson Asemota, Director for Designs and Construction.
