FESTUS ALENKHE SAYS EDO JOURNALISTS WILL CONTINUE TO ATTEND LOCAL, NATIONAL, INTERNATIONAL SUMMITS

The Chairman of the Nigeria UniThe Nigeria Unioon of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, has recently opined that journalists will continue to be involved in international summits, workshops, symposiums and trainings.


This was said during a training organized by the Drug Arm Reduction Advocacy Network, DARAN.



Admonishing journalists in attendance, Comrade Alenkhe emphasized on the need to train and retrain journalists in order to actualize the modus operandi for the media profession.


He stressed further that, "we are working towards training journalists in areas of news gathering, news writing, news reporting and news interpretation because the world looks up to the media for sincere news dissemination.


"This was part of what we promised the Edo Journalists before we came on board. We have no reason to relent on our promise", he said.


Journalists drowned from the 15 chapels of the State Council were acknowledged with certificates of participation and a cash token for bicycle allowance.





Some journalists who responded to the development said that Festus Alenkhe has met up with his campaign promises and has done more than he promised.



According to an opposition journalist who responded on the grounds of anonymous, "when Festus promised that he will take journalists on local, national and international training, we thought he was fooling us. Now, it is a reality. As we speak, no fewer than 12 journalists are in the diaspora for training, summit and others."
