Pyrates push charity amidst dinner

It was glitz and glamour as the Area 3 of the National Association of Seadogs (NAS), also known as Pyrates Confraternity, recently redefined their commitments to charity for the less privileged in the Nigerian society.

The event which was part of the Red Ball was tagged CHARITY BALL: A DINNER AND DANCE FOR CHARITY and it was aimed by the Area 3 for supporting humanitarian causes.

In his remark during the dinner party, the Area 3 Vice President, Odion Dirisu, said it was part of the objectives of the Pyrates Confraternity to see a society where poverty is reduced and as such, there is a need to stand against factors that are still promoting suffering within the society.

According to Dirisu, "we are aiming towards a society that is free from abject poverty where good education can be afforded by all.

"We are at this event today to raise funds for charity purposes and whatever is realized will be channeled to the cause of which it is gotten", he said.

Negberi said the NAS has carried out numerous projects that have made a meaningful impact on the society. He highlighted some of the projects and advocacy on medical outreach, lectures on automobile usage, educational outreach, social handouts in clothes,sanitary pads, foods among others, relief materials to some Internally Displaced Person's (IDP) camp, regain freedom for incarcerated persons in the Correctional Centres, youth empowerment, among others.

Highlights of the ceremony were the sales of quality customized T-shirts, sales of original Castil Eros wristwatches, donations, variety of meals and as well as a well mastered comic relief from the Master of Ceremonies, Dr Jude Obasami.
