Masari to Provide Free Eye Treatment, Glasses for 2,000 Patients

In a far-reaching humanitarian gesture aimed at restoring sight and improving the lives of people living with eye conditions, His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, is bringing comprehensive free eye-care services to 2,000 patients in Kafur and Malumfashi, Katsina State.

 

This was contained in a statement by a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC and made available to journalists in Benin City.


According to the statement, a team of experienced medical professionals and eye-care specialists will be deployed to screen patients, assess their conditions and provide the appropriate treatment based on their individual medical needs.


It stressed that the programme will cover a wide range of eye-care needs, including free medication, prescription of glasses, minor and major eye surgeries, as medically indicated.


The statement further noted that patients diagnosed with cataracts and found suitable for surgery will undergo treatment using the modern Phacoemulsification technique, an advanced cataract-surgery method performed with specialised ophthalmic equipment. 


Dr. Ramat said Patients requiring specialised procedures will also be referred to appropriate specialist hospitals for further treatment.



The statement revealed that the programme will take place in Kafur on Saturday, 29 August 2026, at Kafur General Hospital, before moving to Malumfashi on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at Malumfashi General Hospital while activities will commence at 9:00 a.m. on both days.


The statement explained that the humanitarian support will extend beyond the medical procedure itself and every patient who undergoes surgery will receive a gift of atampa or shadda, together with other items provided as part of the support package.



"For many people living with poor vision, the cost of medication, glasses and surgery can make access to proper eye care difficult". "The programme seeks to remove some of these financial barriers and provide patients with the treatment they need", It stressed. 


"Residents experiencing poor vision, cataract symptoms or other eye-related difficulties are encouraged to come forward for professional assessment during the programme". "Each patient will be evaluated and guided towards the treatment most appropriate for their condition".


"Through the initiative, His Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari is combining medical intervention with humanitarian support, giving thousands of people an opportunity to receive quality eye care free of charge".
