University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, in her ongoing efforts to bolster its Emergency Medicine (EM) Department and ensure adherence to global standards, established a collaboration with esteemed faculty from the United States.
The 11 days working visit which was held between February 13th and February 23rd, 2024, had a distinguished 4- man team from the Boston Medical Center which was led by Dr Nathanael Smith MD, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, embarked on a visit to UBTH Emergency Department.

Other members of the team were Dr Noelle Bates, Dr Chinonso Agubosim, and Dr Ly Cloessner.
Over the two-week period, these experts closely collaborated with the UBTH team, providing guidance in patient care, transferring specialized skills and optimizing bedside ultrasound and ECG techniques to enhance acute care processes and improved diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.

The visiting team conducted a comprehensive assessment, identifying areas for operational refinement and streamlining workflow processes. This initiative proved to be mutually beneficial, as every member of the healthcare team gained invaluable skills, refined their approach, and embraced enhanced work ethics.
As part of their commitment, the team also generously donated a bedside ultrasound machine to the hospital, further augmenting our diagnostic capabilities and patient care standards.
