Maiduguri flood: Edo woman, two kids set for burial in Benin Rep

Three confirmed dead victims of the Maiduguri flood disaster, a mother and her two sons, have been said to be prepared for interment.


This was contained in a media chat with a member of the family, Osayomore Enagbonro, who expressed so much bereaved moments with our reporter.


Speaking, Mr Osayomore Enagbonro said his sister died during the flood disaster alongside her two sons who were said to have been trapped by the heavy flood which claimed more lives, got some victims hospitalized and rendered thousands of residents homeless in Maiduguri.


According to him, his late sister, Mrs Osarumwense Talon (nee Enagbonro) and her two Sons, Guillaume Talon and Nouatin Talon were at home when the flood gushed from an unknown direction, claiming more lives.


After observing a sorrowful moment, Mr Osayomore Enagbonro said, "I am heartbroken. I lost my sister, Osarumwense and her two kids to a situation which the government could have long acted upon.


"Losing my sister and her two kids is the hardest thing I have ever experienced. It is indeed sad and heartbreaking.


"We have called her husband to inform him of the burial of the trio, he said he can't come to Nigeria. So the burial will be at Benin Republic where the three of them will be buried. Her husband is a foreigner from Benin Republic and he traveled with their first son, Columbus Talon, to Benin Republic shortly before the disaster blew.


"We shall proceed to perform every burial rite because we should not keep the dead in the morgue for long", he said in a crying mood.


It will be recalled that there was a flood disaster recently in some parts of Maiduguri the capital city of Borno State and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Tinubu has paid a visit to the evacuated victims at the Maiduguri Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp
